We’re always looking for new sources of inspiration at Ares Direct, which means we often find many people to admire outside our industry. Nobel laureates consist of a wonderful group to look to for tips on success. It’s a result of their common characteristic – they were all awarded a Nobel Prize for their work in exciting fields. Here is some of our favorite advice from these esteemed members of our society:
- Follow Your Heart: Alan MacDiarmid, who won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2000, said, “One has to live it, eat, dream it, sleep it. It has to be complete immersion.” In other words, you must be passionate about your goals, an attitude that resonates deeply with us at Ares Direct.
- Don’t Be Fearful: Bertrand Russell, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1950, said, “Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.” We agree, as we often push boundaries in our work at Ares Direct. Developing your skills sometimes means that you’ll discover new ways of doing things.
- Take Calculated Risks: As several Nobel Laureates – particularly in the sciences – have shown, taking risks is sometimes the only way to achieve forward action on a professional goal. While we don’t recommend experimenting on yourself like Laureate Werner Forssman did, we encourage this way of thinking in our work.
